Three new genome-wide significant BE + EAC loci (4 SNPs) were recently identified by Levine et al12 in a combined analysis of EAC and BE: rs10419226 and rs10423674 in CRTC1, rs11789015 in BARX1 and rs2687201 within 100 kb of FOXP1. None of these associations was genome-wide significant at P < 5 × 10−8 when Levine et al restricted their analysis to BE cases alone, although one SNP, rs10419226, within CRTC1, reached P = 5.5 × 10−8. Here, BARX1 is linked to Barrett esophagus.
