Ovarian cancers with mutated BRCA1/2 genes are particularly sensitive to agents that cause DNA double strand breaks (DSBs) and DNA interstrand cross-links, such as platinum compounds and poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) enzyme inhibitors, for example olaparib and iniparib [14,15].
