Given increased levels of type 2 cytokines, IL-13, IL-4 and IL-5, in acute atopic eczema lesions and enhanced production of epithelial cytokines IL-33, IL-25 and TSLP, it is plausible that group 2 innate lymphoid cells contribute to the pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis.
