Three hStau1-specific mRNAs contained predicted miR-124 targets and have been described as related to neuron function: The homeobox-containing gene engrailed2 (en2), which is involved in autism disorder [61], [62], the magnesium transporter 1 gene (magt1), identified by differential expression during epilepsy [63] and most interestingly, synaptic cell-adhesion molecule2/leucine-rich repeat and fibronectin III domain-containing molecule1 (salm2/lrfn1) gene. The gene discussed is LRFN1; the disease is epilepsy.
