Everolimus, a mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) inhibitor, has recently been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration and the European Medicines Agency, in combination with exemestane, for the treatment of hormone receptor-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women without symptomatic visceral disease and after recurrence or progression following a non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor. Here, MTOR is linked to breast carcinoma.
