NGF sera concentrations were significantly higher in GCA patients compared to controls (177 +/- 67.6 vs. 145.5 +/- 66 pg/mL, P = 0.04) (Figure 5A) whereas no difference was found for BDNF (Figure 5A) or NT-3 (data not shown). The gene discussed is BDNF; the disease is temporal arteritis.
