Strikingly, only GCA patients with ischaemic events (stroke, amaurosis or permanent visual loss) (n = 9) had significant overexpression of TrkB in the media (P = 0.04) and intima (P = 0.015), compared to GCA patients without ischaemia (n = 13) (Figure 1C).
