Using publicly available data sets25, we found that 28% of the intergenic ERα-binding sites in the prostate cancer genome (from VCaP ERα and NCI-H660 cell lines) overlapped with the active histone marks trimethylated lysine 4 of histone H3 (H3K4me3) and trimethylated lysine 36 of histone H3 (H3K36me3) (P<1e−7). The gene discussed is ESR1; the disease is prostate carcinoma.
