CACNA1C and schizophrenia: Recently, there are many reports that have shown that possible involvement of single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within two L-type voltage-gated calcium channel subunits, CACNA1C and CACNB2, and neuropsychiatric disorders including schizophrenia, suggesting that dysfunction of L-type voltage-gated calcium channels occurs in patients with schizophrenia (Ripke et al., 2013; Smoller et al., 2013).
