The novel mutations were discovered while retrospectively studying the prevalence and pattern of KRAS mutations in cancerous tissue obtained from 56 Saudi sporadic colorectal cancer patients from the Eastern Province, and correlating these with clinical features, and p53, EGFR (epidermal growth factor) and HER2 (human epidermal growth factor receptor2) protein expression, and EGFR gene mutational status. This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and colorectal cancer.
