Both IL33 genetic variants, rs7025417 and rs3939286, have been previously associated with autoimmune diseases [12], [13], [14], [15] and they appear to be regulatory DNA elements according to the public database RegulomeDB [29], but with minimal evidence of being located in a functional region (scores 5 and 6, for rs7025417 and rs3939286, respectively). Here, IL33 is linked to autoimmune disease.
