Aleglitazar (a balanced PPAR-α/γ activator) was found to be similar to the PPAR-γ agonist pioglitazone with respect to glycemic control (HbA1c and FPG), but, presumably due to its activity on PPAR-α, superior for control of atherogenic dyslipidemia. The gene discussed is PPARG; the disease is metabolic syndrome.
