As shown in Table 1, participants with MS were older; more obese; more likely to have hypertension and diabetes; had higher plasma triglyceride, glutamyl pyruvic transaminase (GPT), leptin, and C-reactive protein (CRP) concentrations, had lower plasma adiponectin concentrations, and had higher subcutaneous, peritoneal, and retroperitoneal fat areas. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and diabetes mellitus.
