With regard to colloids, the greatest risk for AKI was associated with the use of albumin (odds ratio (OR), 3.9; 95% confidence interval (CI), 2.1 to 6.8; P < 0.001), marginal with the use of pentastarch 10% (OR, 1.7; 95% CI, 1.0 to 3.0; P = 0.06) and absent with the use of HES 6%.
