Bone marrow samples at diagnosis display enhanced angiogenesis and increased vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA) expression.54 Patients with AML can develop venous thromboembolism despite thrombocytopenia.55 One case report related to AML EVs found that in two of three AML patients before chemotherapy the high number of circulating leukemic cells correlated with a relatively low percentage of platelet-derived microparticles.56 Here, VEGFA is linked to Thrombocytopenia.
