Although Caucasian CRSwNP is characterized by a predominant Th2-type eosinophilic inflammation with high levels of IL-5, ECP and local IgE, and Asian CRSwNP preferentially has a Th1/Th17 polarization signature, typical remodeling features in nasal polyps from both ethnic groups are albumin accumulation and edema (pseudocyst) formation within the extracellular matrix. Here, RNASE3 is linked to chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps.
