BAD is an obvious candidate gene, encoding a key proapoptopic protein, BCL2-associated agonist of cell death, associated previously with Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, IBD, alopecia and multiple sclerosis, and, for example, recently shown to function in TNF-a induced apoptosis [Yan et al., 2013]. The gene discussed is BCL2; the disease is alopecia.
