miR-24 is transcriptionally upregulated in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with t(8;21) by the RUNX1-RUNX1T1 (AML1-ETO) fusion protein, which promotes proliferation and blocks differentiation of myeloid cells through repression of DUSP16 and subsequent activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAKP) signaling (Zaidi et al., 2009). This evidence concerns the gene RUNX1T1 and acute myeloid leukemia.
