In this context, we screened the expression of cancer-related proteins with antibody array techniques in retinoblastoma cells compared to HRMECs, Among the proteins which demonstrated higher phosphorylation in Y79 cells than HRMECs, we focused on STAT3, because it modulates the expression of various target genes and miRNAs, acting as a signaling hub and main regulator of cellular events regarding carcinogenesis [12, 13]. This evidence concerns the gene STAT3 and retinoblastoma.
