HLA-C and viral infectious disease: Viral infection can readily change the MHC class I peptide repertoire either by presentation of viral peptides, but also by changing the self‐peptides presented by MHC class I. Moreover, the induction of the immunoproteosome by proinflammatory signals during an active immune response is likely to significantly alter the peptide landscape presented by MHC when compared with noninflammatory conditions.
