In a small sample of obese Caucasian children at different pubertal stages, whose plasma levels of A-FABP were significantly higher than in normal-weight controls, Reinehr et al. [9] found no association with markers of MetS (i.e., TAG, HDL-c and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol LDL-c, BP, HOMA-IR) and hs-CRP. This evidence concerns the gene FABP4 and metabolic syndrome.
