The RALES study (6) was conducted in patients with New York Heart Association (NYHA) class III–IV heart failure who were treated with spironolactone and the EPHESUS study (7) in patients with myocardial infarction associated with severe left ventricular dysfunction who were treated with eplerenone, a MR antagonist without cross-reactivity with the receptor for androgens and progesterone. This evidence concerns the gene NR3C2 and myocardial infarction.
