MAPT and Alzheimer disease: Finally, the ability of O-GlcNAc to influence both tau pathology, as we have previously shown [20, 46] and more recently others [54, 55], as well as β-amyloid pathology, makes OGA a potential therapeutic target of considerable interest since OGA inhibitors may be able to protect against both pathologies and serve as a monotherapy for altering disease progression in AD.
