GAA and myocardial infarction: In a meta- analysis of 7 acarbose studies (an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor which reduces glucose absorption) 1 hour postprandial glucose was reduced by 1.6 mmol/L and 2 h glucose by 2.2 mmol/l while HbA1c was reduced by 0.6% and myocardial infarctions were reduced by 64%.
