EZH2 and Familial prostate cancer: We have reported that miR-205 is silenced in prostate cancer by promoter hypermethylation.25 Interestingly, miR-205 has been shown to decrease EZH2 protein in prostate cancer cells.30 We hypothesized that the epigenetic silencing of miR-205 (through promoter methylation) will lead to increased expression of EZH2, which in turn epigenetically represses miR-31 expression through histone methylation.
