The kinetics between peak viral infection in individual tissues and gene expression and protein expression profiles for a few select chemokines for spleen, lung, kidney and brain were investigated and similar patterns for both RNA and protein expression for all but CCL4 in the kidney were found (data not shown). These data demonstrate the successful use of complementary high throughput gene and protein expression as reliable methods to determine specific immune responses elicited by viral infection and how these changes relate to the kinetics of viral replication. The gene discussed is CCL4; the disease is viral infectious disease.
