We found that adolescents with steatosis had a trend towards higher TNF-α (mean ± SD: 5.46 ± 1.89 versus 4.42 ± 2.28 pg/mL, P = 0.18) and significantly increased MCP-1 (mean ± SD: 150 ± 46.4 versus 126 ± 18.5 pg/mL, P = 0.034) compared to their obese controls (Figures 1(b) and 1(c)) and that plasma endotoxin amount was positively correlated with TNF-α (r = 0.471, P = 0.006), MCP-1 (r = 0.337, P = 0.047), and HOMA-IR (r = 0.381, P = 0.013). Here, TNF is linked to steatosis.
