In order to understand the results with HeLa and SiHa cells, it was reported that IL-6 blocks the production of TNF-α and induces the expression of IL-1 receptor antagonist and CD163 mRNA in monocytes and macrophages with M2 characteristics; likewise, IL-6 may facilitate the oncogenesis of human cervical cancer, positively regulating the expression of antiapoptotic genes such as Mcl-1 [30, 33, 34]. The gene discussed is IL6; the disease is cervical carcinoma.
