Repeated treatment with DAT blockers (i.e., BUP and nomifensine) not only increases DAT levels in mesolimbic regions (Jiao et al., 2006) but also facilitates extinction learning (in the present report) and reduces anxiety-like behavior in the OFT (Tejani-Butt et al., 2003), further supporting that DA is playing a critical role in modulating emotion and responses associated with aversive stimuli. Here, SLC6A3 is linked to Anxiety.
