It has been noticed that activation of Akt2 increases cell invasion and metastasis of breast and ovarian cancer cells through upregulated integrin signaling [110]; its inactivation also inhibits glioma cell invasion [111] and knockdown of Akt2, rather than Akt1, in the cell line A549 dramatically abolishes its invasive potential [112].
