We found a higher concentration of IFN-γ, TNF-α, and IL-17A in vehicle-treated T cell cultures from donors with type 1 diabetes than in those from control donors, suggesting more cytotoxic T cells, Th1 and Th17 cells, in line with the inflammation associated with type 1 diabetes (Fig. 1). This evidence concerns the gene TNF and type 1 diabetes mellitus.
