Given the limited knowledge on the relationship between fasting plasma GH concentration and development of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, we measured hs-GH in fasted plasma in a large, healthy population and related hs-GH to risk of coronary artery disease (CAD), stroke, congestive heart failure (CHF), all-cause mortality, and cardiovascular mortality during long-term follow-up. The gene discussed is GH1; the disease is congestive heart failure.
