Interestingly, we found that MAZ51 activated Akt and increased the phosphorylation of GSK3β at position Ser9, which represents the inactive form of GSK3β; this suggests that Akt-mediated inhibition of GSK3β may contribute to the cytoskeletal alterations in glioma cells induced by MAZ51.
