Using metabolic disorders as the dependent variable, and age, gender, and serum myostatin as the independent variables, the ORs for MetS, central obesity, low HDL, hypertriglyceridemia, and DM were 0.85 [95% confidence interval (C.I.)= 0.79–0.90, p<0.001], 0.88 (95% C.I. = 0.82–0.93, p<0.001), 0.89 (95% C.I. = 0.83–0.95, p = 0.001), 0.85 (95% C.I. = 0.79–0.92, p<0.001), and 0.91 (95% C.I. = 0.85–0.97, p = 0.003), respectively, with every 1 ng/ml increase in serum myostatin level. Here, MSTN is linked to metabolic syndrome.
