A recent exhaustive review of the usefulness of blood biomarkers of pulmonary exacerbations in patients with cystic fibrosis shows that C-reactive protein (CRP) is the most widely studied marker and that others (neutrophil elastase, antiproteinase complex, interleukin 6, myeloperoxidase, lactoferrin, and calprotectin) seem promising[16]. Here, CRP is linked to cystic fibrosis.
