Consistent with a direct interaction between the MUC1-C cytoplasmic domain and PI3K [24, 31], we found that silencing MUC1-C NSCLC cells harboring mutant KRAS is associated with downregulation of the AKT pathway, but has no apparent effect on MEK→ERK signaling. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
