SCHLAP1 and posterior cortical atrophy: Second chromosome locus associated with prostate-1 (SCHLAP1) is a lncRNA that is highly expressed in 25% of prostate tumors. SCHLAP1 expression is revealed as a predictor for PCa aggressiveness, with highly significant hazard ratios for predicting biochemical recurrence, clinical progression, and PCa-specific mortality in a large cohort of localized PCa (n = 235, median follow-up 8.1 years). SCHLAP1 has the potential as prognostic marker due to a significant association between biochemical recurrence and overall survival and high expression levels of SCHLAP1 [23, 46].
