Recently, GPER1 was suggested to play roles in E2-mediated effects on mood, as G15 (a GPER1-selective antagonist) attenuated the effects of G1 (GPER1 selective agonist) and E2 in a mouse model of depression (Dennis et al., 2009), and in cognitive functions such as spatial learning, memory and attention (for review see (Hammond and Gibbs, 2011)). The gene discussed is GPER1; the disease is depressive symptom measurement.
