Gemcitabine is widely used as a chemotherapeutic agent in a number of malignancies, including triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), a highly aggressive and difficult to treat type of breast cancer characterized by lack of expression of estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor and amplification of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). This evidence concerns the gene ERBB2 and triple-negative breast carcinoma.
