Inflammasome activation and the subsequent increase of IL-1β in obesity have received much attention because mouse models deficient in inflammasome components including NLR family pyrin domain containing 3 (Nlrp3), apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing CARD (ASC), and caspase-1 implicate their involvement in the progression of obesity-induced hepatic steatosis [6], [11], [33], [34].
