SPP1 and ovarian cancer: Ye et al. analysed urine samples of postmenopausal women with ovarian cancer and benign conditions and from nonsurgical controls by SELDI-TOF MS and two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and they identified some fragments of Osteopontin strongly correlated to tumour stages and invasiveness, suggesting their use as urine biomarkers, in particular for patient prognosis and tumour metastatic power [69].
