Accordingly, using a large series of neuropathologically confirmed autopsy cases of AD, we have shown that down regulation of LCMT1, PP2Ac methylation (Sontag et al., 2004a) and PP2A/Bα (Sontag et al., 2004b) occurs in AD-affected cortical and hippocampal regions, where it correlates with the accumulation of p-Tau. The gene discussed is MAPT; the disease is Alzheimer disease.
