STX17 and melanoma: Many studies were conducted on the influence of CNVs on the phenotype of domestic animals, such as copy number variation in intron 1 of SOX5 leading to the Pea-comb phenotype in chickens [11], a 4.6-kb intronic duplication in STX17 (Syntaxin 17) causing hair greying and melanoma in horse [12], [13], and the duplication of FGF3, FGF4, FGF19 and ORAOV1 resulting in hair ridge and predisposition to dermoid sinus in Ridgeback dogs [14].
