Abiemo et al. [33] reported that higher adherence to MedDiet was associated with lower insulin concentrations even though it did not decrease the incidence of T2DM, and the MeDiet also showed protective effects on some MetS components although the Alvarez et al. [54] study did not fulfill the conditions that—according to NCEP-ATPIII criteria—more than three components have to be present to diagnose MetS.
