At least two subsets are involved in the development of MCNS: Th1 cells that are characterized by the secretion of interferon-γ and tumor necrosis factor-β, and Th2 cells that are identified by their secretion of the proinflammatory cytokines, interleukin (IL)-4, IL-5 and IL-13, which are associated with the pathogenesis of immunoglobulin E (IgE) and eosinophilia. This evidence concerns the gene IGHE and lipoid nephrosis.
