Serum ALT levels were significantly higher in subjects with NAFLD (median 70 IU/L, IQR 44 IU/L–109 IU/L) than in controls (median 26 IU/L, IQR 22 IU/L–32 IU/L, p<0.001). This evidence concerns the gene GPT and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
