FOXP3 and autoimmune disease: Interestingly, the Nur77 family has also been shown to transcriptionally regulate Foxp3 expression and deletion of all three Nur77 family members (Nr4a3−/−X Cd4-Cre+Nr4a1fl/flNr4a2fl/fl) results in impaired Treg cell production and development of a quick onset, severe autoimmune disease resembling that of Foxp3-deficient mice (Sekiya et al., 2013).
