Our previous study showed that downregulation of ribophorin II (RPN2), which is part of the N-oligosaccharyl transferase complex, efficiently induced apoptosis in docetaxel-resistant human breast cancer cells in the presence of docetaxel.20 Silencing of RPN2 decreased membrane localization of P-glycoprotein through a reduction of glycosylation status, and restored sensitivity to docetaxel. The gene discussed is RPN2; the disease is breast carcinoma.
