Overexpression of miR-503 inhibited the migration and invasion of the highly invasive hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cell line, HCCLM3 (16), induced G1 cell cycle arrest and reduced the proliferation of HCCLM3 cells (16, 32), an acute myeloid leukemia cell line (33), human glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) cell lines (17), osteosarcoma cells and colon cancer cells (34), and suppressed the proto-oncogene cyclin D1 (CCND1) in a human head and neck carcinoma cell line (35). The gene discussed is CCND1; the disease is acute myeloid leukemia.
