Indeed, in a large cohort of non-demented PD patients, cholinergic projection alterations, investigated by means of [11C]PMP and PET, were highly heterogeneous with over 65 out of 101 subjects with PD showing neocortical and thalamic acetylcholinesterase activity within the normal range (Bohnen et al., 2012).
