In healthy subjects, it is known that exercise‐induced increases in adrenaline suppresses insulin secretion (Galbo et al. 1979; Minuk et al. 1981; Kjaer et al. 1986, 1990; Pestell et al. 1993); therefore, exercise‐induced increases in insulin secretion in IGT and T2D subjects could be due to lower sympathetic suppression of insulin secretion by adrenergic stimulation (Minuk et al. 1981; Krotkiewski and Gorski 1986).
